How to treat lower back pain

Back pain is an inevitable result of our lifestyle.  Most of us work for hours in office jobs and have to sit all day in a chair in front of the computer. Other causes of back pain include standing for a long time, sitting in the wrong position, exercising incorrectly and congenital malformation.

This harsh lifestyle without having time to swim or exercise can lead to severe lower back pain, and can result in other minor pains such as neck and shoulder pain. Back pain is a very common symptom in the lower spine area, affecting 4 out of 5 people at some point in their lives.

What treatments are available for lower back pain?

  1.  Don’t sit or stand for long periods of time: If the nature of your work requires long periods of sitting then you should support the lower back and rest your feet on the ground, so that the legs and thighs are supported. As for those who are required  to stand for hours, attention should be paid to how to hold the correct position, so that the chest is held tight and the buttocks and stomach as well.

  2. Analgesics: These drugs are available in pharmacies and are administered over the counter, and they can eliminate minor and moderate back pain as well. Back pain needs relatively strong analgesics to be able to relieve pain but the use of painkillers should not exceed two weeks because overuse becomes a cover that hides the underlying problem without treating it and may cause delays in its treatment. Analgesics such as voltaren may eliminate pain but in return create new stomach problems if not used with medical advice or too much so you should take it on a stomach full of food and in moderation.

  3. Strengthening the dorsal muscles: Most back pain is due to weakness of the muscles that weaken under burden and excessive exertion leading to increased pressure on the ligaments that cause pain, then moves to the cartilage that is subjected to the pressure process change from a solid vertebra to a weak soft state that slides. The stronger the dorsal muscles, the more the spine, nerves and bones are protected, the more resistant the muscle fibres become resulting in less back troubles.

  4. Back, neck and shoulder massages: Often back problems are related to other problems in the neck and shoulders. Back, neck and shoulder massages can greatly reduce back pain. Having a regular routine of massage can make a huge difference to the occurrence of back pain. Particularly if you have 3 to 4 massages each week you will find that you are far less likely to suffer from any sort of muscle pain, including back pain. Of course, visiting a massage therapist so frequently can be a great expense which is why you should consider investing in a massage chair so you can have the same great benefits without having to leave the house.

  5. Muscle relaxants: For back pain, muscle relaxants can be a short term solution to tackle the pain. Muscle relaxants relax the back muscles and remove the tension on them, making the back relax. It should be noted that you should take muscle relaxants before going to sleep, as these medications can affect your daily life activities. You should not drive the car under the influence of muscle relaxant.

  6. Relaxation Yoga: Relaxing exercises and yoga exercises may be all you need to cope with back pain that is often the result of stress, stress and sit-down for long periods.
